Enhancement of the Esplanade Comédie Urban Space – Montpellier

Fountain & Urban Cooling Oasis

At the heart of the Comédie–Esplanade redevelopment in Montpellier, Belle Environnement contributed to the creation of a space where water becomes a defining element of the urban landscape.

The project combines fountain features, dynamic water displays and misting systems, supported by all the hydraulic equipment, networks and technical installations required for their operation.

Designed as a genuine urban cooling oasis, the space gives water both an aesthetic and functional role. The water features bring the public space to life, while the misting system helps improve user comfort during periods of hot weather.

Integrating the technical equipment into a particularly sensitive landscaped environment, notably characterised by the presence of century-old trees, was also one of the key challenges of the project.

A project combining hydraulic engineering, landscape quality and urban comfort, restoring water to its rightful place at the heart of the city.
