History
1893
Founding of the Belle company
Ulysse BELLE founded the company in Montélimar, in the Drôme region, specializing initially in pumping, irrigation and general mechanics for the agricultural sector.
1964
Acquisition of Ulysse BELLE's company by the CHAZE Family
Since its founding in 1960 by Ulysse Belle, Belle Environnement has embodied the values of an independent family business, built on innovation and adaptation to environmental and industrial needs.
The company has its roots in the primary sector, driven by the first generation of the Chaze family. In its early days, it equipped farms with high-performance pumping solutions, actively contributing to rural development.
Over the years, urban growth required a more structured approach to wastewater management. The first separate sewer networks were built, as were the first treatment plants. Etablissements Belle supported the town of Montélimar by building the first wastewater transfer pumping stations to the treatment plant of that time.
1980
Acquisition of Etablissements BELLE by Patrick CHAZE
A shift toward industry
With the arrival of Patrick Chaze, representing the second generation, the company entered a new era. Thanks to his visionary approach, he steered the company toward industrial markets:
Collaboration with Lafarge: Development of technical solutions for reprocessing and reusing process water from concrete plants.
Management of waste storage sites: Design of corrosion-resistant pumps for acidic substances from waste storage cells.
First fountains and irrigation projects: Diversification into innovative technical solutions for landscaping and filtration.
This period marked a decisive turning point, enriching technical expertise and strengthening the company's position in the industrial sector.
2000
Luc Chaze joins Belle
The birth of Belle Environnement
Under the leadership of Luc Chaze, representing the third generation, the company officially adopted the name Belle Environnement and continued its development into new sectors:
Public contracts became a major strategic focus, thanks to strong partnerships with:
- Public works groups.
- Public and private urban planning design offices.
Structuring of business units to meet clients' growing requirements:
- Pumping stations.
- Fountains.
- Irrigation.
- Water treatment.
- Automation and electrical.
This diversification came with a comprehensive offering, integrating civil engineering, earthworks, networks and surface finishing through partnerships with national partners.
2016
The company BELLE becomes BELLE ENVIRONNEMENT
To reflect the group's evolution across pumping engineering and urban water engineering trades, the company changed its name.
2017
New NORTH ILE DE FRANCE office
Opening of the NORTH Ile De France office, following the awarding of the renovation contract for the Champs Elysées Fountains.
2021
New headquarters in Montélimar
To improve the visibility of our offices across France, four regions were created:
- North Ile de France office: based in Paris
- Grand Est office: based in Lyon
- Grand Ouest office: based in Bordeaux
- South East office: based in Montélimar (Head Office)
To improve working conditions and the efficiency of a company whose workforce had quadrupled, a new head office was built in Montélimar. As a showcase, many industry-specific applications are on display there.
2026
A new milestone
In 2026, Belle Environnement reaches a new milestone in its development in the South of France with the choice of Aix-en-Provence as its reference site for the PACA region.
This location now brings together sales, project delivery and maintenance resources, with teams present locally. It thus becomes a genuine PACA office, able to support projects at every stage, from development to execution and over the long term.
At the same time, Belle Environnement is accelerating its nationwide development in the luxury and events markets. This direction paves the way for the launch of a brand dedicated to these fields, designed to bring a more specific, creative and demanding approach to our expertise.
The year 2026 also marks a new step in our nationwide development in the nuclear sector. To meet the specific requirements of this environment, Belle Environnement is setting up a dedicated organization and method, with resources specific to methods, project management and site supervision. This structure allows these operations to be approached with a framework, processes and level of control suited to the sector's requirements.
